Hi, I’m Malissa The Writer—a storyteller, educator, and passionate wordsmith based in Metro Detroit, Michigan. For nearly 20 years, I’ve dedicated my career to capturing the stories of people who are not just living, but thriving—in business, in their personal journeys, and within their communities.
Beyond sharing the narratives of others, I also love crafting my own fictional stories. I’m currently working on my first screenplay, an exciting creative venture that fuels my passion for storytelling in new and dynamic ways.
Words are my power. They have the ability to change lives, shift perspectives, and open minds—and that’s why I love what I do. With a B.A. in Electronic Media from Oakwood University and an M.A. in Journalism from Wayne State University, I’ve spent years honing my craft through education, internships, and hands-on experience in writing and production.
Today, I wear two hats: freelance writer and college English professor. Whether I’m helping students find their voices or bringing stories to life through my writing, my mission remains the same—to inform, inspire, and connect through the power of words.
